How Hano is paid

The short version

Some links from Hano to retailer websites are affiliate links. If you click one and make a qualifying purchase, the retailer may pay Hano a commission. You never pay more because of this — the price you see at the retailer is the same either way.

What that means in practice

• Hano participates, or has applied to participate, in affiliate programs operated by retailers and affiliate networks (such as Impact.com, CJ Affiliate, Rakuten Advertising, Sovrn, and Awin).
• When a product page, curation, or reflection on Hano links out to a participating retailer, that link may carry a tracking parameter that identifies Hano as the referrer.
• If you buy something after following such a link, Hano may earn a small percentage of the sale as a commission from the retailer — not from you.
• As an Amazon Associate, Hano would earn from qualifying purchases — if and when we participate in that program, this page will say so plainly.

What commissions never change

Hano exists to help you find furniture and objects that genuinely fit your taste and your space. Commissions do not influence:

• What we curate. Products enter Hano's catalog through our evaluation process, which scores design quality — not commission rates. We curate products from retailers that pay us nothing at all.
• What we show you. Your matches and reflections are driven by your taste profile, never by which retailer pays a higher rate.
• What things cost. Affiliate commissions are paid by retailers out of their marketing budgets. Prices are identical with or without our link.

Why we use affiliate links

Commissions are one of the ways an independent curation service can pay for itself without charging you, selling your attention to advertisers, or accepting placement fees from brands. Affiliate relationships also give us direct product data from retailers — prices, availability, options — which keeps what you see on Hano accurate and fresh.
